If you want to join the takers, you'll have to either complete the Kill Ellrah quest or complete Eko Blade's Kill Outsider Rebels Quest. To join without completing a quest, you'll need 10 Leadership. Joining gets you the Kazg Key, which opens the door behind Gnorrel.
