Give him the message from the Ellrah's Message quest to get xp. If you wish to join the Awakened, complete the Destroy Control Four quest or convince him to let you join them for nothing with 8 Leadership. Joining gets you the Ellrah Bronze Key and Ellrah Gold Key.
